Preventative Care

“Prevention is key” cannot be stressed enough! Preventing disease is always more effective and cheaper than treating disease. This also saves your animal from pain, stress, lifelong chronic changes to their lifestyle. At Valley Veterinary Services, we recommend at least years preventative care exams for all our patients!

These appoints help us not only establish a relationship with you and your pet, but also a baseline, so we can monitor and manage your pet’s health as things changes. This is a great time to screen for early signs of illness, but also use preventative measures such as vaccines and parasite preventatives.

Does your dog or cat have bad breath, difficulty eating, swollen face or teeth falling out? Pets need dental care too! In addition to routine brushing at home, pets need dental cleanings every 1-3 years. This includes a through ultrasonic scaler cleaning of the teeth and under the gums, as well as a finishing polish to seal the tooth off. In some cases of tooth root infection, or retained baby teeth, dental extractions may also be performed.

Routine and regular vaccines are essential for our pet’s health! There are both CORE vaccines for routine vaccines as well as vaccines based on exposure such as Leptospirosis, Rattlesnake and Flu. We recommend the following vaccine for our small animal patients:

Initial kitten series, then the following annually

  • FeLV
  • Rabies

Initial puppy series, then the following

  • Da2pp-C
  • Bordetella (annual)
  • Rabies
  • +/- Rattlesnake (annual)
  • +/- Leptospirosis (annual)
  • +/- Influenza (annual)

Digital Radiology

X-ray can be a key factor to diagnosing and treating our patients. We can look for abdominal masses, pregnancy counts, back/spinal injury, fractures/injuries and much more! Our mobile x-ray unit is always in our truck and ready to pull out at a moment’s notice.

Although ultrasound in the field is most used for breeding soundness exams and pregnancy confirmations, we can also look for tendon tears, intestinal distension, abdominal fluid and more.

We offer full laboratory testing from blood work, fecal screening, urinalysis, histopathology, cultures, disease screening, vaccine titers and more!

We offer routine spay and neuters in a unique and convenient manner! Our technician picks up your pet that morning and transports them to our surgical facility where surgery is performed, and your pet is closely monitored all day. Then, once awake and ready to go home, our technician delivers them back to your door the same afternoon/evening! Call today to schedule your routine spay or neuter!

Nutritional Counseling

We can help you assess your pet’s health and body condition score. From there we can help guide you on the best diet recommendations, including prescription diets that ship straight to your door.

Allergy Testing and Treatments

Dog can’t stop itching? Bumps and sores all over every spring and summer? Allergies can be extremely frustrating for pet owners, and uncomfortable to their pets! We can offer allergy testing and individual specialized treatments, specific to your pet as well as diet guidance and prescription medications to help manage your pet.

Help us help you when your pet gets lost! We provide a Lifetime Registration with your microchip purchase with us. With this microchip, your pet can be simply scanned by a vet clinic, shelter or rescue and your information be obtained so that your pet can be reunited with you! We recommend that all our patients are microchipped.
